Mesud II was one of the last sultans of the Anatolian Seljuks. He maintained a weak authority around Kayseri and Konya. It was almost impossible to hold the throne without Mongol approval. Around 1308, the dynasty is considered to have effectively ended. Osman Gazi and other extremists rose in this gap. Mesud II's period is the silent closing of an empire. Although the Seljuk seal lived in Anatolian culture, its political life ended. It was replaced by the Ottoman and principalities era.
